Carbon tool steel from the Astm system

Carbon tool steel from the Astm system

Are you interested in carbon tool steels in the ASTM standards system from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.

General provisions and scope of application

The main standard defining the specifications and characteristics of carbonaceous tool steels produced in North America is ASTM A686.

The specification of this standard covers the chemical, mechanical and physical requirements for existing products made of forged carbon steel. The range of rolling products — rods, wire, sheet, plates, strips, as well as forging, is intended for the production of a tool for machining or plastic deformation.

The choice of material for a particular application will depend on the design, service conditions and desired properties. The manufacturer shall analyze the mechanical characteristics of the steels in order to determine their chemical composition, comparing it with the data specified in the reference material.

The hardness of the sample after this heat treatment should correspond to the minimum hardness value for the particular type of steel prescribed by the reference material. The macrostructure in the cross section of the sample in the annealed state should be prepared in accordance with the reference material. The sample should have a structure free from excessive porosity, segregation, slag, dirt or other non-metallic inclusions, pipes, checks, cracks and other defects.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at a reasonable price from the manufacturer a diverse range of carbon tool steels that meet the technical requirements of the ASTM A686 standard. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.
