GOST 16520-70

You are interested in GOST 16520−70 «Brass wire. Technical specifications «from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find the necessary information on this topic.

Application area

This standard applies to drawn cold-deformed general-purpose wire of round, square and hexagonal sections from copper-zinc alloys (brass).

Assortment

Diameter of a wire of a round section and limiting deviations on diameter should correspond to specified in the table:

Nominal diameter Limiting deviation in diameter with accuracy of manufacture, mm
normal increased
From 0.10 before 0.30 Including 0−0.020 0−0.010
St. 0.30 before 0.60 Including 0−0.040 0−0.020
St. 0.60 before 0.90 Including 0−0.040 0−0.020
St. 0.90 before 1.80 Including 0−0.060 0−0.030
St. 1.80 before 3.00 Including 0−0.060 0−0.040
St. 3.00 before 6.00 Including 0−0,080 0−0.050
St. 6.00 before 9.50 Including 0−0,100 0−0.060
St. 9.50 before 12.00 Including 0−0.120 0−0,070
A round wire made of brass of grade L80 is produced with a diameter of 0.25 to 5.3 mm.
A round wire made of brass of grade LS59−1 is produced with a diameter of 0.6 to 12.0 mm.

The diameter of the wire of square and hexagonal sections and the limiting deviations in diameter should correspond to those indicated in the table:

Nominal diameter Limiting deviation in diameter with accuracy of manufacture, mm
  normal increased
Up to 3.0 inclusive 0−0.06 0−0.12
St 3,0 to 6.0 inclusive 0−0.08 0−0.16
Holy 6.0 to 9.0 inclusive 0−0.10 0−0.20
St. 9.0 to 12.0 0−0.12 0−0.24
For the diameter of the wire of square and hexagonal sections take the diameter of the inscribed circle, i.e. the distance between the parallel faces of the wire.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers various types of products from brass alloys of domestic and foreign production, which meets the requirements of standards. The products are offered at affordable prices from the manufacturer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.

Technical requirements

The wire is made of brass of grades L80, L68, L63 and LS59−1 with chemical composition according to GOST 15527.

The wire is made in soft, semi-solid and solid states.
The state of the material and the wire, depending on its size, shape of the section and the grade of the alloy, must correspond to those indicated in the table:

Brand alloy Section shape Wire dimensions, mm Material state
L80 Round From 0.25 to 0.30 inclusive. Soft, semi-hard
    St. 0.30 to 0.60 inclusive.
    St. 0,60 to 5,3 inclusive.
L68, L63 Round St. 0.10 to 0.18 inclusive. Soft, firm
St. 0.18 to 0.60 inclusive. Soft, semi-hard, firm
    St. 0.60 to 9.5 inclusive.
    Holy 10.0 to 12.0 inclusive
Square, hexagonal Holy 3.00 to 12.0 inclusive
LS59−1 Round 0.60 Soft, firm
    St. 0.60 to 1.9 inclusive.
Holy 1.9 to 9.5 inclusive. Soft, semi-hard, firm
    Holy 10.0 to 12.0 inclusive
Square, hexagonal St 3,0 to 12,0 inclusive.
With a semi-solid and solid wire, residual tensile surface stresses should be removed by thermal (low-temperature annealing) or by mechanical method.

The surface of the wire must be clean, free from contamination, making it difficult to inspect it.
Insignificant traces of technological lubrication, as well as shells, risks, dents, traces of broaches, nicks and other surface defects, which do not lead out the wire during the control sweep for the limiting deviations along the diameter, are allowed on the surface of the wire. The quality of the surface of the wire is allowed to be controlled by means of samples agreed between the manufacturer and the consumer.
