Forgings titanium

Production
There are two ways of producing forgings: pressing (hammer forging — metal is freely located on the surface of the anvil), punching — the metal is deformed in the walls of the bounding stamp. The method of stamping gives higher accuracy, and the method of forging — higher strength, plasticity. The strength of titanium alloys, as well as of other metals, depends both on the initial qualities and on the forging and thermal process.
Especially important is the quality control of products during forging. Since titanium readily reacts with oxygen in hot form, it must be protected from contact with various atmospheric gases: O 2, N 2, H 2 during forging.
