Technical specifications
The VD-75 alloy (and its closest foreign analogue CW25) is a representative of temperature-resistant copper-tungsten alloys. The alloy is produced by sintering and subsequent pressing of the original metal powder. This gives the final product the required accuracy with minimal porosity. This alloy is well suited for the production of metal electrodes for contact or spot welding, because it is characterized by high electrical and thermal conductivity. The alloy does not withstand significant mechanical loads and is inappropriate for use in high-carbon steel electroplating technologies. Can be used for protective coatings of welding electrodes with small temperature differences.
Urgency of application
Alloy VD-75 (CW25) is used for banding and manufacturing inserts for face-welding stamps, projection welding electrodes, inserts for welding seams (especially for welding low-carbon stainless steels), often used for the manufacture of electrodes for electro-erosion equipment, for processes with large tool wear machining of grooves, small-diameter holes and narrow slots). Electrodes produced from this alloy are characterized by reduced porosity, high accuracy and operational durability. The alloy is used in processing technology of carbide matrices, providing greater stability in cutting and other machining operations of refractory metals and alloys.
Chemical composition
The composition of the tungsten-copper alloy VD-75 (CW25) includes 25% of tungsten and 75% of copper. Traces of iron and nickel are allowed.
Physical and mechanical properties
- Density, kg / m 3 — 12400… 12800;
- Hardness according to Rockwell (scale B) — 74;
- Coefficient of thermal conductivity, W / megade — 52;
- Yield strength, MPa — 1800;
- The limit of temporary resistance, MPa — 612.
Assortment and application features
The sheet and rod of the tungsten-copper alloy of the brand VD-75 (CW25) are produced by powder metallurgy methods: pressing, sintering and diffusion of tungsten with copper or silver, in any assortment of thickness and diameter of the cross-section, machining corresponds to the regimes for cast iron. The use of cutting fluids is not required. The material allows a surface coating of silver or copper, soldered in an atmosphere of hydrogen. In the processes of electro-erosion treatment, the alloy withstands the erosive effects of short-circuits much better than other materials.
