AISI 430 Ti

Nickel-free ferritic stainless steel stabilized with titanium steel AISI 430 Ti for General use has a balanced chemical composition; high corrosion resistance, okalinolomatel at temperatures up to 850 °C resistance to intergranular corrosion. This steel is classified as heat-resistant.

Presence in steel, aluminum and titanium, in combination with low carbon content, steel provides high strength and plastic properties which can be compared with the Nickel-containing marks (304), and determines when heating and welding more stable structure. This steel combines high strength and good plastic deformability. Stabilization titanium structure and low concentration in carbon steel gives it no tendency of welded joints to intercrystalline corrosion processes (active carbamoilirovaniem happens only at a temperature of about 1000 °C), moreover, gives it excellent weldability. Steel not sensitive to intergranular corrosion in the temperature range 500−800 °C, and is much less sensitive under load to chloride cracking.

Characteristics of AISI 430 Ti

Steel grade AISI 430 Ti is positioned on the chemical composition, as a counterpart to the domestic steel grade 12X17. But low concentration in carbon steel leads to the absence of necessity for its further stabilization with titanium, because the real composition of carbon at the level of 0,020−0,035% provides at higher temperatures, the absence inclination to intergranular corrosion (intense carbamoilirovaniem starts at temperatures above 1000°C), moreover, ensured its excellent weldability. In this regard, this steel grade in performance is improved analog 08KH17T, which is recommended as a substitute for steel 12CR18NI10TI 12X18H9T by GOST 5632−72. The General corrosion resistance of steel in many environments to the resistance of austenitic steel 12X18H10T. Unlike Nickel-containing austenitic steels of the type 18Cr-10Ni, low carbon chromium ferritic steels are resistant to various sulfur-containing environments. In this connection, products from steel AISI 430 Ti (wire mesh, etc.) can be used in systems pumping of oil, gas, clean oil, various hydrocarbons in process units of oil refining and gas processing. When using the steel is preferable to any individual tests for corrosion resistance, determined by the temperature, load, contact with other materials, the degree of contact with technological environments, the duration of continuous operation, the aggressive influence of disinfecting and/or cleaning solutions, abrasive products and the influence of other specific conditions.

430 Ti steel has the additional advantage that distinguishes it from the contrast Nickel austenitic grades — this insensitivity to intergranular corrosion in the temperature range 500−800°C, and has a much lower sensitivity to cracking chloride. Due to the low coefficient of thermal expansion, the use of this steel is optimal for products, which experience extremes of temperature, and its high thermal conductivity determines the merits of the application in heat exchange systems. Having relatively low thermal inertia (specific heat) steel AISI 430 Ti is at the lowest energy consumption, capable of quickly warming up and cool down that allows to avoid possible overheating of inertia.

The scope of

Steel AISI 430 Ti is widely used in such industries as:

-automotive;

-production of tables, sinks, parts washing machines, kitchen utensils, serving tool, sinks, pallets and drums for washing machines, etc.;

-architecture and design;

-civil engineering;

-food industry;

-equipment for heat exchangers;

-production of internal and external accessories;

Use sparingly-alloyed Nickel-free stainless steels (ie analogues 430) in the food processing industry is regulated by standards and other normative documents. Main GOST 5632"stainless steel", also reglementary the use of ferritic chromium steels 08KH17T 12X17 and as substitutes for chromium-Nickel austenitic steel type 12X18H10T and 12X18H9T, including and for the food industry, manufacturing kitchen utensils and household items.

Steel AISI 430 Ti can be used in the production of technological equipment that is used at various stages in the food industry (hygienic handling or cleaning materials, equipment and products, separation and sorting of products, grinding, blending, packing and packaging, thermal processing, transportation, etc.). On the basis of multiple reference literature, ferritic steels such as AISI 430 Ti can be applied in production machines and machine parts for the wine industry. Steel of this type permitted for use in direct contact with wine, wort, cognac alcohol, as well as by-products of winery wastes, etc. allowed the use of these steels (08KH17T) for the production of equipment used in the dairy and beef industries at temperatures 30−140°C, etc.

Since chromium steels have a low coefficient of thermal expansion and increased thermal conductivity in comparison to Nickel austenitic steels, it determines their advantage in the application (including tube rental) to heat exchange structures such as cooling gradeline, etc. Low thermal expansion coefficient provides the most reliable pittingale mount and rapid heat transfer in the cooling system food reservoirs (system with cooling water, glycol and other cooling media). Piping and welded construction of chromium steels resize, the temperature variation is much smaller, which reduces the fatigue rupture load from temperature change, preventing potential leaks from the various hydraulic connections.

All steel this series (400), including and AISI 430 Ti can not only be applied as substitutes for Nickel-containing grades, but much better for some properties to be indispensable in the manufacture of food processing equipment. AISI 430 Ti is fully consistent with the sanitary-epidemiological state standards and regulations and is very promising in application in the manufacture of equipment for different branches of food and processing industry: meat, fat, baking, alcohol, beer and soft drinks, confectionery, alcoholic beverage and others. High corrosion resistance of the steel AISI 430 Ti is characterized by a decreased in the carbon composition and high chromium content (16 to 18%).

This steel is proven as a sustainable material in gaseous media, which are formed during combustion of various fuels. AISI 430 Ti is used in the manufacture of pipes and liners recirculation systems, neutralization and exhaust trap exhaust gases. Sophisticated high-temperature catalytic oxidation-reduction reactions and corrosive gas environment determine an indispensable application of corrosion-resistant economically-alloyed steel AISI 430 Ti in the form of structural material in the manufacture of exhaust systems, furnace and other related equipment (chimneys, exhaust ducts, etc.). Such environments may contain products of incomplete combustion (hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, etc.) and complete combustion (water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc.).

Heat treatment

Steel AISI 430 Ti is not hardened by heat treatment and has good resistance to the formation of scale, maintaining their useful mechanical performance properties up to high temperatures. When working at temperature of 850 °C steel AISI 430 Ti is positioned as a heat-resistant, but the real operating temperature depends on the environmental conditions.

Welding

AISI 430 Ti is well welded by all known methods, subject to the adoption of the post-weld passivation measures, etching/cleaning without losing corrosion properties in welding areas. For optimal use of arc welding in inert gases, you must comply with the minimum energy consumption during the welding of the seam. Recommended welding «on top» (i.e., if the work surface is located below the welding tool). In the form of filler material can be used austenitic wire SV-07CR25NI13, 309L, St-08Х25Н13БТЮ, etc. it is also possible to use electrodes or filler wire basis chromium ferritic steel AISI 430 Ti. To ensure adequate corrosion resistance should remove the dross, as well as the color of the tint by etching or mechanical treatment with brushes made of stainless steel and prepassivate with the help of cold solution (10−20%) nitric acid. The next step is a thorough rinsing in cold water and drying.
