Tape nickel np2 - nickel 200
Ni was isolated in the middle of the eighteenth century. Swedish metallurgist Axel Kronstedt. Initially, this metal was used only by jewelers, and in industry it was impossible to use because of sulfur impurities. But with the discovery of technology for the production of pure nickel on an industrial scale, the situation has radically changed. Nickel has received the widest distribution in electrical engineering and metallurgy, where it became the basis for manufacturing various grades of heat-resistant stainless steels.
Marking
Semi-finished nickel is marked — NP, in contrast to chemically pure, which is designated by the letter H. Semi-finished products are marked depending on the content of impurities. The most common brand of nickel alloy is the brand NP-2, where the letter «H» means nickel, and the letter «P» is a semi-finished product.
Basic properties
The nickel band NP-2 is very rigid, viscous and forging. It is easily polished to a mirror shine, it’s not for nothing that the jewelers were the first to appreciate it. In air at ordinary temperature, it is covered with a protective oxide film, which protects against corrosion. It is capable of withstanding the effects of gaseous and liquid corrosive media at temperatures up to 850 ° C. Easily lends itself to any kind of machining, welding. The only drawback is the impurity of sulfur, capable of forming a sulfide film on the surface, making the product more fragile at high temperatures.

Production
The production of a nickel strip, whose thickness is measured in micrometers, is a rather high-tech process. At manufacture the manufacturer guarantees observance of all requirements of the customer with the minimum deviation from standards. According to GOST 15515−70, the thickness of 0.05−2 mm has a deviation of 0.01−0.1 mm in the decreasing direction; Width 10 — 300 mm — deviation of 0.2−1 mm in the direction of increase. Length is usually 2.5 m. Length is allowed and a large, but shorter length is not produced. The tape, whose thickness is 0.1 — 0.5 mm, can be made up to 100 m in agreement with the manufacturer, but then weld seams will be visible. According to the standard tape NP-2 should have a clean and smooth surface. Weight depends on its parameters and can vary in the range of 0.5 — 18 kg per square meter. On the surface minor risks are allowed, dents from transportation, minor changes in color. If a small segment is meant, it can be called a strip.
Application
The machine-building industry, electrical engineering, the production of various types of electric heaters with a stably high electrical resistance. A tape is used, whose thickness can be 5 — 20 micrometers. Greater thickness of the tape is used in medicine and in the manufacture of musical instruments, as well as in such areas as experimental physics, chemistry, the production of ICE vehicles, aircraft, tractors.
