Beta Alloys titanium alloys
Supplier — AvekGlob company offers to purchase at affordable prices from manufacturers Beta-titanium alloys in a wide range of brands and profiles. The supplier guarantees prompt delivery of products to any address specified by the customer.
Technical specifications
Beta-titanium alloys are distinguished by the following features:
• Are exposed to all modes of heat treatment, changing the properties in a necessary direction;
• Can be welded well;
• Significantly improve the mechanical strength;
• They have good indicators of long-term strength (creep resistance) in the region of intermediate temperatures;
• Characterized by increased plastic characteristics.
Beta-type titanium alloys have good combinations of properties in sheet products, as fasteners and are ideal for compounds used in corrosive environments. The higher content of alloying components in Beta-titanium alloys increases their density by 7… 10%.
Urgency of application
The most common beta-alloy grades of titanium are:
Ti3Al8V6Cr4Mo4Zr ASTM Grade 19
Ti10V2Fe3Al AMS 4983, 4984, 4987
Ti15Mo3Nb3Al2Si ASTM Grade 21
Ti15V3Cr3Sn3Al AMS 4914
The above-mentioned alloys are metastable, which are thermally strengthened as a result of aging. Fully stable Beta-alloys can only be annealed.
In addition to enhancing the beta phase, Beta-stabilizers have two other important advantages as alloying components.
Beta-titanium has inherently lower resistance to deformation than alpha modification, and therefore elements that increase and stabilize the beta phase tend to improve the ability of the alloy during hot and cold deformation operations.

Technological features of application
Elements that reduce the temperature of transformation, easily dissolve and enhance Beta-phase, are known as beta-stabilizers. They can be divided into two categories according to their behavior with titanium:
— Beta-isomorphic elements;
— Beta-eutectoid elements.
Beta-isomorphic elements show complete mutual solubility with Beta-titanium. Increasing the addition of the dissolved element gradually suppresses the transformation temperature. Molybdenum, niobium, tantalum and vanadium are the most important beta-isomorphic elements.
Beta-eutectoid elements have a limited solubility in Beta-titanium and form intermetallic compounds by eutectoid decomposition of the beta phase.
Less active are iron, chromium and manganese. On the contrary, copper and silicon form active eutectoid systems.
Advantages of Beta-titanium alloys:
Improved deformation ability in cold and hot conditions;
possibility of hardening
The addition of a sufficient beta stabilizer to the titanium compositions also makes it possible to heat-treat, which allows significant hardening by controlled decomposition of the beta phase during the heat treatment process.
