Composition
40X13 steel — stainless steel is heat-resistant alloy of the martensitic class. It includes chromium, 12−14% Nickel — 0.6%, manganese and silicon at 0.6%, carbon — 0,26−0,35%, a few thousandths of a percent of sulfur and phosphorus, balance iron.

40X13 steel heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant, not prone to temper embrittlement, resistant to atmospheric and soil moisture, poorly welded. The density of 7.76 g/cm3. According to GOST 25054−81 rod hardness after quenching and tempering HB 10 — 1 = 240 — 276 MPa. According to GOST 5949−75 rod hardness after annealing HB 10— 1 = 130 — 206 MPa. The analogue — alloy 30X13.
