Technical specifications
The alloy VNM5−3 (the closest foreign analogue is the WNi5Mo3 alloy) belongs to the group of heavy tungsten alloys containing copper / molybdenum and nickel and differing in high corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures. This property of the alloy is maintained up to operating temperatures of 600… 650 0 С. The alloy is obtained by the technology of powder metallurgy with the subsequent sintering of blanks into the molds of the required range. The material is characterized by low thermal expansion, good heat and electrical conductivity, excellent arc resistance and excellent abrasion resistance at elevated temperatures.
Urgency of application
Alloy brands VNM5−3 (WNi5Mo3) are used in military technology, pharmaceuticals, food industry, metalworking and in the details of optical equipment.
Primary applications include the production of precise bearing assemblies, sputtering targets in the medical industry and nuclear engineering, ballast systems, radiation protection installations and molds for precision injection molding. Typical products that are made from these alloys are counterweights, vibration and recoil reduction devices, X-ray shielding devices, aerospace parts. The addition of copper improves the antifriction characteristics of the alloy and increases its erosion resistance, so that this alloy is suitable for the production of welding electrodes. An important branch of the use of the alloy is the heating elements of electric vacuum furnaces.
