Technical specifications
Brass grade L63 (the nearest foreign analogues: in the USA — alloys 2.0321, C27000, in Western Europe — alloy CuZn37) is a single-phase solid solution of zinc in the solid phase of copper. This phase is very ductile at low temperatures and large cold deformation. Therefore, brass L63 is well suited to all operations of cold plastic deformation. At the same time, this brass does not have a high ability for machining, although it is not a magnetic material.
A technological feature of these alloys is their tendency to corrosion cracking, especially in the presence of tensile stresses, which are much lower than the yield strength of the material. As the content of zinc increases, corrosion cracking increases. An annealing is necessary to reduce the risk of corrosion.
This is one of the most suitable brass for mirror polishing. The soft or hard mobility of CuZn37 is excellent, but due to the low melting point and high pressure of zinc vapor (906 ° C), the weldability of this alloy and, as a rule, of brass, is moderate.
Urgency of application
Brass L63 (alloys 2.0321, C27000, CuZn37) is used in many different applications: needles, wheels, dials in the watch industry, contact parts of electrical relays, stamped connectors, parts for equipment for chemical etching of steel billets, etc.
Chemical composition
It is given in the table:
Zn | Cu | Ni | Pb | Fe | Sn | Al | Impurities |
rest | 62.0−65.5 | <0.30 | <0.1 | <0.1 | <0.1 | <0.05 | <0.10 |

Assortment and application features
Brass bar, circle and wire from the material in question are produced in the range of diameters from 1.5 to 100 mm, with the length of the bar / circle up to 6000 mm. Brass grade L63 (2.0321, C27000, CuZn37) is well polishable. Due to the low melting point and high pressure of zinc vapor (906 ° C), the weldability of this alloy is moderate.
