Application area
The range and properties of rolled products from high-speed steels are regulated by GOST 18265−73. This standard applies to hot-rolled, forged, calibrated bars and strips, rods with special surface finish, in terms of chemical composition standards — on sheet, tape, forgings, stamping and other types of metal products from high-speed steel.

In the marks of steel letters and numbers mean: P — high-speed; the figure following the letter is the average mass fraction of tungsten; M — molybdenum, F — vanadium, K — cobalt, A — nitrogen; the digits following the letters mean, respectively, the mass fraction of molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt; Ш — electroslag remelting.
In the designation of steel grades do not indicate the mass fraction:
chromium — at any mass fraction,
molybdenum — up to 1% inclusive,
vanadium — in the steel grades R18, P6M5, P9K5, P6M5K5, P9M4K8 and P2AM9K5,
nitrogen — in the steel grades 11Р3АМ3Ф2 and Р2АМ9К5.
At the request of the consumer, the steels P6M5 and P6M5F3 are produced with nitrogen doping (mass fraction of nitrogen from 0.05% to 0.10%). In this case, the marks of the brands — P6AM5 and P6AM5S3.

In the form, dimensions and limit deviations, the steel must meet the requirements:
hot-rolled round and square sections — GOST 2590−88 and GOST 2591−88;
Forged — GOST 1133−71;
strip — GOST 4405−75;
calibrated — GOST 7417−75;
steel with special surface finish — GOST 14955−77 with a diameter from 1 to 25 mm inclusive.
Technical requirements
. The hardness of the steel in the annealed state, the hardness of the samples after quenching and tempering, the quenching and tempering temperature should correspond to the values indicated in the table
