Foundry magnesium alloy WЕ54 Magnesium Elektron belongs to the group of temperature resistant high-strength alloys. It can be used both at room temperature and at temperatures up to 300 ° C. Due to the increased content of yttrium and alloying with neodymium, the alloy has good mechanical properties combined with excellent corrosion resistance. The alloy may contain a small amount of other rare earth metals.

Welding of the WE54 alloy is possible in an inert gas environment using tungsten non-consumable electrodes. After welding, the product is recommended to be heat treated.
The alloy is well machinable with the use of strong tool steels and at higher feed rates of the billet.
