Technical specifications
Woven mesh made of copper-nickel Monel alloy is characterized by high strength and corrosion resistance in chlorine-containing liquid media. This material is one of the most versatile and widely used nickel alloys. Woven mesh is a combination of nickel and copper with a higher strength material than unalloyed nickel. It does not jeopardize ductility and can withstand corrosion caused by exposure to humid environments such as brines and reactive substances (in particular sulfur and hydrofluoric acid). The operational requirements for Monel woven mesh fabrics are regulated by ASTM E2016−15.
Urgency of application
Woven wire mesh from Monel alloy is formed from drawn wire and is usually used in high-performance applications of aerospace,
chemical and hydrocarbon equipment, as well as valves, pumps, shafts, fittings and heat exchangers. With some exceptions, non-industrial users rarely choose Monel-wire cloth because of its high cost and similar appearance, similar to stainless steel. The mosaic grid of the alloy in question is also distinguished by its high cost, and therefore it is used mainly in the marine industry, in the manufacture or repair of ships, as well as in industrial chlorination plants.
Chemical composition of mesh material
In accordance with the ASTM B574 standard and the UNS N10276 specification, the composition of the alloy includes:
Nickel — 57%;
Molybdenum — 16%;
Chrome — 15.5%;
Iron — 5,5%.
