Technical specifications
Steel data does not have a clearly defined place in the DIN standards, and is discussed in the sections «Low-alloy steels» and «Steels for welded structures». In particular, the current standard DIN EN 10027−1 provides for marking such steels according to their main properties: chemical composition, mechanical properties, technological features. In the euronorms, two main types of marking are adopted:
- by physical characteristics;
- by chemical composition.
Marking Re
For steels used without heat treatment, or steels after normalization, the designation Re is first put, and then there are figures denoting the guaranteed ultimate strength in megapascals. At the end, the alloying element may be indicated.
Marking B
For the same steels it is possible to indicate an unspecified tensile strength, and a guaranteed yield point in megapascals. In this case, after the designation Re is put the letter B, and then there are figures reflecting the guaranteed yield strength. Further, an alloying element may be indicated.
Additional marking
- The tendency to weldability (A; B; C);
- Additional quality indicators (1; 2; 3, etc.), before the indicated figures a hyphen is placed;
- a letter characterizing the limitation on the content of sulfur and phosphorus;
- the designation EN;
If the steel alloy has special characteristics, then after the symbol Re in the designation is entered the capital letter:
- V — specific magnetic properties;
- P — stampability.
After this letter is indicated a two-digit number reflecting this property, and letters — reflecting the state of the surface of the product and the state after processing. Supplier Avlob offers to buy low-alloy structural steel at a bargain price. The price is the best in this segment of rental.
Marking after heat treatment
The marking begins with a number indicating the carbon content multiplied by 100. Next, the symbols of the alloying elements are followed, then their quantitative content is indicated, and then the symbols of the elements contained in the steel in small quantities, but important for the properties of the steel. Further, the number divided by the coefficient reflects the average content of the basic alloying elements in the order corresponding to the elements given in the designation. Private is rounded to the whole.
Marking X
The steels in question are included in the group of doped (except for high-speed) with an average content of at least one alloying element of more than 5%. Denoted by the first letter — X. The letter is placed in front if the delivery form is steel casting. The first number is the average carbon content multiplied by 100 (up to three digits). The lagging elements are denoted by the letters — the symbols of the chemical elements, arranged in descending order of the elements content (with the same content
Designation of special requirements
These symbols are separated by the + sign from the previous ones.
- C — coarse-grained structure;
- P is a fine-grained structure;
- Н — with special hardenability;
- 715 — with a minimum relative narrowing of 15%;
- 725 — with a minimum relative narrowing of 25%;
- 735 — with a minimum relative narrowing of 35%.
