Nitrided structural steel from the Astm system
Are you interested in nitrided structural steels in the ASTM standards system from the supplier AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.
Limitations and requirements
ASTM A355 is a standard specification for nitrided rolled structural steels. This manual covers the entire range of alloy steel, suitable for surface hardening by nitriding. The steels are divided into classes A, B, C and D, and Class A and Class D rolling are general-purpose bars, Class B profiles are rolled for subsequent processing, and Class C extends to alloy steels that contain nickel up to 3, 5%. They are characterized by a higher core strength. All classes are produced in hot-rolled, tempered and tempered condition. Steel is manufactured only by electric furnace method.
The microstructure resulting from the heat treatment should not contain free ferrite in amounts exceeding the specified values. The maximum depth of complete and partial decarburization of hot-rolled bars and heat-treated rods must not exceed the prescribed dimensions. Analysis of heat or casting is carried out on four classes of steel, in which the material must meet the required chemical composition for carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, aluminum, molybdenum, selenium and nickel. After quenching and tempering, the steel must correspond to one of the specified hardness ranges.
