General Provisions
Color marking of tungsten electrodes is regulated by the following standards — for domestic products GOST 23949−80 «Tungsten welding electrodes, non-melting. Technical Specifications «, for imported production electrodes — ANSI / AWS ISO 6848 standards.
Each of the types of tungsten electrodes has its own rational applications:
Clean tungsten electrodes — used for welding aluminum and its alloys, not suitable for DC welding;

Zirconia electrodes do not contaminate the welding seam, they are used for welding aluminum alloys, but are not suitable for DC welding processes;
Lanthanide electrodes are distinguished by light arc ignition, can be used both on permanent and alternating current, are used for welding of unalloyed and high-alloy steels; aluminum, titanium, nickel, copper and magnesium alloys, as well as for microplasma welding;
Cerium electrodes also facilitate arc ignition, are suitable for DC and AC welding, can be used for welding of unalloyed and high-alloy steels and aluminum, titanium, nickel, copper and magnesium alloys, but both in the lower and in the middle range of the welding current
