Manufacture of tungsten electrodes for aluminum

Manufacture of tungsten electrodes for aluminum

Are you interested in the production of tungsten electrodes from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.

Urgency of application

Welding electrodes made of tungsten and various alloying additives provide the best conditions for high stability of the welding process. Such electrodes, in particular:

Create the best conditions for optimal arc ignition;

Provide high resistance;

The most homogeneously distributed material over the area of the weld;

Give the arc the highest density.

Tungsten electrodes are used in various applications for the permanent joining of stainless steels, as well as a number of non-ferrous metals and alloys, in particular nickel, aluminum, titanium and copper.

Areas of application: all TIG processes, plasma applications, lighting technology and equipment, medical equipment. Such electrodes are also used in resistance welding techniques.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at affordable prices from the manufacturer tungsten non-consumable electrodes of various diameters and chemical composition. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.

Technology of production of tungsten electrodes

Since the starting metal for the production in question — tungsten — has a high melting point, the raw material for the production of electrodes is sintered powder. The bar blocks or bars are further processed by multiple drawing, as a result of which the required cross-sectional profile is acquired. The final product manufacturing operation is surface cleaning, cutting electrodes in a size on a press-scissors with a support (thus eliminating cracking), and marking the electrode by its chemical composition. Sometimes, at the request of the customer, special preparation of the working end of the electrode is made.

In the production of welding electrodes from chemically pure tungsten, a powder with a very high purity is used — not less than 99.95%, without additional alloying elements. After a short stirring, the powder is filled into a mold and compacted, then sintered into a rod and discharged to the final shape by rotational crimping, grinding and other processes. The service life of such electrodes is comparatively short. They are usually used only for AC welding, for example, aluminum and / or magnesium alloys.

Range of operating parameters affecting the choice of the size of the tungsten electrode

The maximum idling voltage is not more than 80 volts;

The arc ignition time is no more than 35 milliseconds;

Welding current ranges: lower 5−75 amperes, upper 15−375 amperes;

Rated welding current: 300 A at 32 V, with a duty cycle of 60%.
