General information and classification of steel grades

Depending on the main purpose and alloying, the steel is divided into groups:

A — steel for metal structures:

manganous-14G, 19G, 09G2, 14G2, 18G2; silicon-manganese-12GS, 16GS, 17GS, 09G2S, 10G2S1; manganese-vanadium — 15GF; chromo-silica-manganese — 14ХГС; chromium-silicon-nickel with copper-15ХСНД, 10ХСНД.

B — steel for the reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures: silica-manganese — 35GS, 18G2S, 25G2S; Chromomanganese with zirconium — 20ХГ2Ц; Siliceous with titanium-80C.

At the request of the customer, as well as in the case of using in the smelting of naturally-alloyed copper ores, grades 09G2, 09G2S, 10G2S1 and 15GF are supplied with a copper content of 0.15−0.30%. In this case, the letter «D» is added to the name of the steel grade.

Marking for packaging

Marking applies to thick plate, wideband (universal), graded (smooth and periodic profile) and shaped low-alloy steel, smelted in open-hearth furnaces or converters with oxygen purge from above, used in construction and in machine building mainly for welded structures, mainly in the state of delivery. The method of manufacturing the steel is chosen by the manufacturer, if this method is not specified specifically in the order.

The marking, packing and documentation of steel for delivery must comply with GOST 7066 — 69.

The certificate shall additionally state:

• mode of heat treatment of steel (for hire

in the heat-treated state);

• method of steel smelting — at the request of the consumer.
