Cold brass welding
Are you interested in the technology of cold brass welding from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find the necessary information on this topic.
Weldability of various types of brass
With the exception of brass containing lead, all brasses are welded, and alloys with a low zinc content are the most easily welded. Low-zinc brasses (<20% zinc) have good weldability, zinc brasses (> 20% zinc) have satisfactory weldability, and cast brasses have low welding ability.
Tin brass alloys have good weldability. Since they are sensitive to hot stress cracking and tend to form oxide films on the weld pool, high welding heat inputs, high preheating and slow cooling when welding these alloys should be avoided. Welding of lead brass alloys is undesirable.
All these limitations are eliminated by applying cold plastic welding of brass alloys.
Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers to purchase assortment of various brass alloys of domestic and foreign production. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
Technology and limitations
Cold welding of brass alloys is used by machine tool manufacturers in the automotive industry, manufacturers of pumps, ships, foundry equipment and in the metalworking industry. The main area of application of cold brass welding is various repair work, at the subsequent operating temperature of the jointed products no more than 500 ° C, and at applied pressure not higher than 500 bar. Brass products joined by cold welding are characterized by good abrasive wear resistance.
The technology of cold welding of brass includes:
Thorough degreasing of the surface of the future joint;
Application of cold welding composition (two-component metal powder and hardener) with pressing the joint until the composition is completely cured (not less than 3… 4 hours);
Visual inspection of the quality of the joint (there should be no superficial bundles and cracks).
The choice of the composition for cold welding is made taking into account the working conditions of the joint. Compositions that cure faster are designed for lower operating temperatures, which usually do not exceed 300 ° C. There are working mixtures of cold welding of brass, which allow subsequent machining of the welding zone.
