ASTM B515. Standard specifications for the manufacture of welded UNS N08120, UNS N08800, UNS N08810 and UNS N08811 alloys
Are you interested in the ASTM B515 standard concerning welded pipes made from UNS N08120, UNS N08800, UNS N08810 and UNS N08811 alloys from the supplier AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.
General Provisions
This standard covers welded pipes of alloys conforming to the specifications of UNS N08120, UNS N08800, UNS N08810 and UNS N08811, and intended for the manufacture of boilers, heat exchangers and condensers operated under conditions of moderate corrosive wear and high temperatures. Pipes should be made of sheet metal, then welded with automatic welding without the addition of fluxes. Subsequently, the pipes are subjected to annealing and cleaning from surface scale.
The material shall comply with the chemical composition limits prescribed in ASTM B515 for nickel, chromium, iron, manganese, carbon, copper, silicon, sulfur, aluminum, titanium, niobium, molybdenum, phosphorus, tungsten, cobalt, nitrogen and boron, as specified chemical analysis. The product must have mechanical properties corresponding to the standard, including tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. Annealed alloys must comply with the prescribed grain size. The following technological tests shall be carried out: a flattening test, a flange bend test, and non-destructive testing by one of the following methods: hydrostatic or pneumatic internal pressure, eddy current or ultrasonic testing.
Security
The ASTM B515 standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns (if any) associated with its use. The user of the standard is fully responsible for establishing good practices in occupational safety and health and determining the applicability of regulatory restrictions before use.

Application area
This specification covers welded pipes of the UNS N08120, UNS N08800, UNS N08810 and UNS N088112 alloys, intended for the manufacture of boilers, condensers and heat exchangers in the normal corrosive atmosphere and at elevated operating temperatures.
The ASTM B515 standard extends to pipes ranging in size from 1/8 to 5 inches (from 3.18 to 127 mm) inclusive, in external diameter and from 0.015 to 0.500 inches (0.38 to 12.70 mm) inclusive, along the wall thickness. Pipes having other dimensions may also be regulated by this standard, provided that they fully comply with the description for other parameters.
