Plasma cutting of metal
Are you interested in the technology of flame cutting of rolled metal, steels and alloys from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic /
The essence of the process
Flame or flame cutting is a thermochemical process that requires a source of intense heat called «preheating» and pure oxygen. The high purity of oxygen is a very dangerous situation and requires special care when choosing the equipment and design of piping systems for its use.
This process can be used to cut / separate various materials with the basic requirement that the formed oxide has a lower melting point than the main material to be cut.
An example of a material that can not be cut is aluminum. Stainless steel also has additives such as chromium and nickel added to prevent oxidation at elevated temperatures.
Thin material requires intensive preheating, since the cutting speed required for good quality is very high. Therefore, high-temperature preheating of the preform to a high temperature is required. Then, pure oxygen is sent to the preheated zone, where separation takes place.
Urgency of application
The flame cutting process can be used to cut sheet metal up to 500 mm thick, however, it is more expedient to use plasma cutting technology to cut a thin sheet.
Supplier — AvekGlob company — offers various metals and alloys at reasonable prices from the manufacturer, the blanks for which can be obtained using flame cutting. The assortment and the number of such blanks are completely determined by the customer’s wishes. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer
Parameters of the flame cutting process
The quality of cutting depends on a number of characteristics, the primary design being the burner design and the qualification of the cutter. The number of elements that determine the quality of cutting includes:
choice of cutting tools;
choice of oxygen pressure;
correct mode of preheating;
optimal cutting speed;
type of fuel gas.
Most of these parameters can vary depending on the material and the state of the surface of the cut workpiece. All these elements are fully controlled by the operator.
