Heat treatment of metals, steels and alloys
Are you interested in the types of heat treatment of metals, steels and alloys from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.
Types and purposes
Thermal treatment (hereinafter — heat treatment) of metals and alloys is any of several controlled heating and cooling operations that are used to achieve the desired change in the physical properties of the metal. Its purpose is to improve the structural and physical properties for a particular use or to increase the resistance of metal in the form of finished structures.
There are five main processes of heat treatment: quenching, annealing, normalization, tempering, surface hardening. Although each of these processes leads to different results in the metal, they all involve three main stages: heating, soaking and cooling.
Heating is the first step in the heat treatment process. Many alloys change the structure when heated to certain temperatures. The structure of the alloy at room temperature can be either a mechanical mixture, a solid solution, or a combination of a solid solution and a mechanical mixture.
As soon as the workpiece to be heated is heated to the temperature at which the required changes in its structure take place, these changes must be fixed. Therefore, the product is kept at a given temperature, until all of its parts are evenly heated. This is called aging. The thicker the workpiece, the longer this stage lasts.
In the process of cooling, the process speed is selected so as to ensure the mechanical properties of the product, such as hardness, viscosity, ductility, tensile strength, etc.
Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at affordable prices from the manufacturer various metals and alloys successfully subjected to various heat treatment operations, in the quantity and range required by the customer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer
Equipment
Heat treatment is carried out in special furnaces, the temperature and the heating rate in which can be easily regulated, and within a fairly wide range. There are the following types of thermal furnaces:
Flame heating, which can work on liquid (mazut) or gaseous fuel;
Heating wells — used for preliminary heat treatment of ingots in metallurgical production;
Electrical heating: induction type or resistance furnace;
High-energy installations using for heat treatment the heat of a spark or arc discharge.
Flame furnaces can be through-flow and chamber type: the first ones are used for high-performance, and the second ones are used for heat treatment of small products. In modern flame furnaces, a little or non-oxidizing heating of the metal is provided.
Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers to purchase various metals and alloys subjected to heat treatment technologies, in any quantity and range of sizes. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards of production. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
