General Provisions
GOST 13084−88 applies to powders of high-alloy steels and alloys made by the method of joint reduction of mixtures of oxides with metal powders by calcium hydride. Powders are intended for the manufacture of corrosion-resistant products, machine parts, instruments, porous and dense sheets, tapes, wires, metallurgical semi-finished products (forgings, bars, ribbons, pipes) and for other purposes.
Technical requirements for powders include a set of provisions on the chemical composition of powders and the technological regulations for its production.
Powders of high-alloy steels and alloys are divided:
- by chemical composition — on the brands ПХ17Н2, ПХ18Н15, ПХ23Н18, ПХ18Н9Т, ПХ30, ПХ20Н80, ПХ13М2, ПХН28МДТ, ПХ40Н60;
- by granulometric composition;
- on the maximum grain size: large — 280 microns, medium — 160 microns, small — 56 microns;
- by bulk density — on 21, 23, 24, 25, 26.
The symbol for the powder is indicated with the following abbreviations:
powder — P;
powder grade — the letter designation of the element and the number indicating the average content of the element in percent;
granulometric composition — 280, 160, 56;
bulk density — 21, 23, 24, 25, 26.

Requirements for the quality of metal powders from precision alloys
- The norms of the mass fraction of oxygen are not a sign of marriage. Definition is mandatory. Norms for the mass fraction of oxygen in PCN28MDT and PC40H60 powders are established by agreement of the manufacturer with the consumer;
- At the request of the consumer the powder grade ПХ18Н9Т is made without titanium. The mass fraction of the titanium impurity should not be more than 0.08%;
- The granulometric composition of the powders must comply with the standards indicated in the table:

- Powder should not have foreign impurities and lumps;
- The moisture content of powders should not be more than 0.2%;
- Bulk density, depending on the size class and the grade of powders, must comply with the standards indicated in the table:
