Calibration and cutting of stainless pipes
Are you interested in cutting and calibrating stainless steel pipes from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find the necessary information on this topic.
Methods of cutting pipes made of stainless steels
Stainless steels belong to high-alloy materials. Stainless steel is a common name for metal alloys, which consist of 12% or more chromium (Cr) and more than 50% iron (Fe). A modern stainless steel pipe can also contain other elements, such as nickel, niobium, molybdenum and titanium. Nickel, molybdenum, niobium, and chromium reinforce the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. The addition of at least 12% chromium to the steel makes the material resistant to rust. Chromium in steel reacts with oxygen in the atmosphere, forms a thin, invisible layer of chromium-containing oxide, called a passive film
In cold cutting, a stainless steel pipe tends to harden. When the stainless steel tube contacts the surface of the tube cutter, it is strengthened, which increases the effort and cost of the energy necessary for the qualitative separation of the tubular preform.
The content of chromium and nickel makes it difficult to flame cutting. Stainless steel pipes of the austenitic class harden very quickly, which forces to reduce the speed or feed for the cutting tool.
When cutting a stainless steel pipe, the workpiece heats up strongly during cutting, changing its color from blue to bright yellow, and if the tube is thin enough, it can deform along the axis.
The sequence of cutting the stainless steel pipe is as follows: the workpiece is cut off in draft mode, then it is ground, the edges are processed, and then it is cleaned on the inner surface. For cutting, machines with sequential or orbital movement of the cutting tool can be used.
Supplier — AvekGlob company — offers to purchase a range of tubular metal products, made of different grades of stainless steels. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
Calibration of pipes
The process is carried out on vertical hydraulic or mechanical presses. Presses for pipe calibration have a nominal force of 10,000 kN to 50,000 kN. The function of these presses is to calibrate welded cold-deformed pipes for oil and gas pipelines made of stainless steel. The dimensions of the presses vary depending on the size of the pipes to be processed. Presses for pipe calibration can have an automatic system for reciprocating the deforming motion tool during pipe calibration. It is possible to install an automatic mold change system.
