Cold drawing of alloys

Cold drawing of alloys

Are you interested in cold drawing of metals, steels and alloys from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.

The essence of the process of drawing a metal

Drawing is part of the group of technological processes of the second redistribution of metal, and is used primarily in the metallurgical industry. This is the process of plastic deformation of a continuous material of a volumetric cross-section — a rod, a coil of wire, in which the parent metal passes through a deforming tool — the die, as a result of which its cross section decreases and the length increases.

Cold drawing takes place in the following sequence:

Sharpening the butt of the rod / wire;

Pushing the material into the receiving part of the die;

Capture the end of the workpiece that comes out of the die, with a tick attachment;

Winding of a drawn profile (for a wire), or pulling a workpiece (for a rod).

When drawing, the scheme of the stress-strain state with one tensile-axial-stress acts, and therefore the technological possibilities of the methods are limited by the ductility of the metal. In particular, in one pass the deformation step can not exceed 50… 60%, otherwise the workpiece can be broken. If it is necessary to carry out more intensive shaping, multiple cold drawing is used, and after each pass (for low-plastic metals and alloys) the semi-finished product is annealed.

Urgency of application

Cold drawing is used to produce bars or wires with different sizes of cross sections. This is advantageous, for example, in the conditions of mass production, when a reduction in the nomenclature of the initial profiles is achieved. Cold drawing is widely used in wire production to produce wires of different cross-sections from the initial metal roll of the same section.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at affordable prices from the manufacturer various metals and alloys that are successfully subjected to cold drawing rolling, in the quantity and range required by the customer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.

Equipment

For the implementation of cold drawing, draw drawing machines and drawing drums are used. The former are used for the plastic deformation of rolled products of finite dimensions (rod or circle), the latter for plastic processing of wire. Equipment for cold drawing is distinguished by the following parameters:

According to the maximum dimensions of the cross-section of rolled products;

By the number of simultaneously processed blanks;

By the number of drawing passes, which, depending on the plasticity of the metal, can reach 3… 4;

By drive power;

By the degree of automation of management.

Advantages and limitations

Cold drawing provides:

Significant increase in the accuracy of the final profile;

The possibility of intensive deformation by increasing the number of passes;

Reducing the cost of purchasing a higher nomenclature of rolling profiles.

At the same time, cold drawing of low-plastic metals raises the probability of crack formation and even loss of integrity of the billet.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers to purchase various metals and alloys processed by cold drawing technology, in any quantity and range of sizes. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards of production. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
