Bending of metal
Are you interested in the bending of metals, steels and alloys — characteristics and methods — from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.
Bending technology
Bending as a kind of sheet or forging / stamping is used in machine-building industries to change the axis of deformable billets, both sheet and bulk. The result of forging is the production of spatial products from flat (for sheet stamping), or bulk billets with a modified longitudinal or transverse axis — for forging and forging.
The bending is divided into free and calibrating. With free bending, the workpiece is placed on the stops, and deformed by the movable part of the die in the required location. Efforts in this case are small, but, due to the phenomenon of elastic aftereffect of the metal, which is a consequence of the inertial forces, the products after the removal of the load distorts its original shape given by the stamp.
When calibrated forging, the deformation is performed relative to the workpiece, which is rigidly positioned from all sides of the die. Varieties of such bending are one-, two- or multi-angle bending. Since the flow of metal is limited by the walls of the stamps, friction forces arise, which lead to an increase in the deforming forces. Nevertheless, the calibrating allows you to maximize the shape of the workpiece to the shape and dimensions of the finished product.
Urgency of application
Bending methods are widely used in various branches of engineering, electrical and electronic industries, as well as in construction.

The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer
Equipment
The bending is performed by specialized equipment — mechanical or hydraulic presses and automatic machines. Hydraulic bending presses ensure the high quality of the finished product. since they allow you to leave the bent workpiece as long as you want, under the force, compensating for its possible shape distortion (springing). In the mass production of bent parts (staples, small brackets, chain links, etc.), multi-slider bending machines are used. On the contrary, in the case of single production of bent pipes, profiles, edges, non-driven machines are often used.
The choice of equipment is made by the maximum effort developed by the drive (press), or by the greatest thickness of the metal of the initial workpiece (hand bending machines).
Advantages and limitations of the process
Bending in dies ensures high quality of finished products, as well as the absence of distortion of the shape and cracks along the bend line. The use of mechanized bending does not lead to an increase in the energy intensity of the process, since all methods of bending are very low-cost operations.
