Gas flame treatment of metals
Are you interested in gas-flame treatment of metals, steels and alloys from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic.
The essence of technology
Gas flame treatment is a process of surface thermal action on metal by a directed jet of flame, which is compressed in the transverse direction by a flow of gas. Depending on the purpose of the process, the gas can be chemically neutral (inert gases: argon, nitrogen, helium, carbon monoxide), or promote oxidation of the surface (air, oxygen). An independent variety of gas-flame technologies are all gas welding processes.
The following types of gas-flame treatment are known:
Cutting;
Surfacing;
Cleaning.
In gas-flame cutting, there is a separation of the metal, which is locally melted by the heat released during the combustion of the gas. The main gassing gases are acetylene, oxygen, propane mixtures. In gas-fired surfacing, the surface of products is heated by a stream of combustible gas of lower intensity, as a result of which the atoms of the desired substance diffuse into the surface layers of the metal. Gas flame purification is the lowest-temperature version of the operations under consideration, during which melting and blowing of low-melting substances occurs from the surface of the workpiece.
Urgency of application
Gas flame treatment of metals and alloys is used in medium-sized and single-shot production conditions for preliminary cutting of blanks from the initial metal roll, application of surface oxide films (for example, blasting), which improve the performance characteristics of the product and for its preliminary cleaning.
Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at affordable prices from the manufacturer various metals and alloys successfully subjected to various operations of gas-flame treatment, in the quantity and range required by the customer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer
Equipment
For gas flame treatment, various cutters or gas flame cutting machines are used (the latter for mass production of blanks). Cylinders with necessary gases and starting-regulating equipment are also necessary. Some models of gas-flame cutting machines are equipped with CNC systems.
Advantages and limitations
Gas flame treatment allows:
In the case of small-scale or single-shot production, to obtain different in shape, size and cross-section of the billet without requiring complicated and expensive equipment for this;
Manage the microstructural parameters of the metal in the cutting zone or the effect of the flame: the hardness and depth of the thermal effect zone;
It is efficient to use a small nomenclature of initial blanks.
At the same time, gas-flame treatment is inefficient, characterized by a high amount of metal waste (correspondingly — a low coefficient of its use), does not allow a favorable change in the structure of the metal in the resulting product. The roughness of the separation surface in many cases requires its subsequent refinement.
