Milling of metal

Milling of metal

Are you interested in the characteristics of milling of metals, steels and alloys from the supplier AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic

The essence of technology

Milling is a group of processes for machining metals and alloys, which are subjected to non-round in the plan workpiece. The cutting of chips during milling is performed by a rotating tool — a milling cutter — with a progressive or reciprocally moving workpiece.

There are four main types of milling operations — end milling, processing of flat surfaces that are at right angles to the axis of the mill, milling of flat surfaces that are parallel to the axis of the milling cutter and angular milling (machining of flat surfaces that are at an angle to the axis of rotation of the milling cutter). Milling can also produce surfaces with irregular contours.

Urgency of application

Milling is used to create on the details of a variety of flat contours having protrusions, depressions, roundings, grooves, grooves, etc. Milling is usually used for small-scale and single-way production of these parts, as well as as a secondary process for adding or refining the characteristics of parts manufactured using other technologies (in particular forging and other plastic deformation operations).

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers at affordable prices from the manufacturer various metals and alloys successfully subjected to various operations of milling, in the quantity and range required by the customer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer

Capabilities

Due to the high tolerances and surface coatings that can be formed during the reciprocating movement of the workpiece, milling is suitable for obtaining high-precision parts of the configuration on the workpiece, the preforming on which has already been carried out. Milling can handle practical any metals and alloys.

Surface quality after finishing milling in Ra: 25 — 160 mkm at tolerances of ± 0.001 mm. Automated machining is possible using CNC-equipped machines.

Disadvantages of the process: relatively low process productivity, idling phase when machining does not occur, considerable wear of cutters (special high-speed steels are required), a significant amount of metal waste in the chips. Milling processing is advisable to combine with other types of metal working, and use it at the final stages of obtaining parts, when the important characteristics are accuracy and roughness.

In accordance with the basic milling scheme, longitudinal milling, universal milling and cross-milling machines are distinguished. Their layout is mostly horizontal.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers to purchase various metals and alloys subjected to milling processing technologies, in any number and in a range of sizes. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards of production. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
