Application area

These technical specifications apply to grinded billets of molybdenum, which are used for vacuum adhesions and for parts of electrovacuum devices. The requirements established by the present technical conditions for blanks of molybdenum grinded grades MCH, MK, MPN correspond to the first quality category.

Technical requirements

Molybdenum grinded billets are made of cermet molybdenum of MCH, MK and MPN grades, the characteristics of which should correspond to that indicated in the table:

Molybdenum brand Characteristics of the brand
MCH Pure molybdenum, which does not contain additives
MK

Molybdenum with an increased content of silicon and alkali;

characterized by much more

high recrystallization temperature than Molybdenum

and higher bending strength in the annealed state

MRN

Molybdenum without additives; temperature of molybdenum recrystallization

this brand

may be slightly higher than that of Molybdenum grade MCH

due to the greater content of impurities

The nominal dimensions of the blanks and the tolerances allowed should correspond to those indicated in the table

Nominal diameter, mm Permissible deviation from the nominal diameter, mm Length, mm
For 1st grade For the 2nd grade
from 0.8 to 2.9 every 0.1 ± 0.02 -0.10 from 250 to 1000
«3.0» 5.8 same as 0.2 ± 0.04 -0.15 «250» 1000
«6.0» 8.5 «0.5 ± 0.06 -0.20 «250» 1000
«9.0» 14.0 «0.5 ± 0.06 -0.30 «250» 500
«15.0» 24.0 «1.0 - -0.50 «250» 500

Chemical composition

It is given in the table:

Molybdenum brand The content of impurities and additives,%, not more than

Molybdenum,%,

not less than

Aluminum and iron (in total) Nickel Silicon Calcium and magnesium (in total)
MCH 0.018 0.005 0.014 0.005 99,958

MRN 0.025 0.020 0.014 0.005 99,936

Quality requirements

The blanks must be straight. The deviation from straightness should not exceed 0.5% of the measured length.
On the surface of the blanks are not allowed stratification, cracks, traces of graphite grease and oxides, burrs, fractional strokes and gross lateral risks. Within the permissible deviations in diameter, slight transverse risks from grinding, dents are allowed; On the side of the ends of the blanks chipped, burrs and traces of oxidation of the surface are allowed for a length of no more than 10 mm.
Parameter of roughness of blanks according to GOST 2789−73 Rz — from 20 to 10 mm and Ra 2.5 to 0.63 microns (5−7 cells). As agreed with the manufacturer, the billets can be manufactured with a surface roughness parameter according to GOST 2789−73 Ra0.63 to 0.50 μm (8 cells).
Blanks should not have internal bundles and cracks.
