Tin-plate brazing

Tin-plate brazing

Are you interested in soldering tin sheets from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find the necessary information on this topic.

Process Features

Soldering refers to a group of processes that ensures the continuity of the material connections by heating them to the soldering temperature in the presence of a brazed filler, but without melting the base metal. Soldering is characterized by a uniform distribution of the brazed filler between tightly adhering splice surfaces.

Sequence of soldering with tin

The process is performed in the following sequence:

Materials are thoroughly cleaned and degreased;

A suitable filler is selected;

Tin parts are installed with some clearance;

During soldering, the solder joint formation zone is protected from the oxygen of the air;

To avoid thermal deformation of the tinplate, the thermal effect on it should be minimal.

Surface preparation

All forms of contamination, such as dust, paint, oxides and scale should be removed from the surfaces of the tin parts before soldering. Otherwise, the molten material will not wet and flow along the surface of the tin. Surfaces must be cleaned by cleaning or degreasing with a solvent, and then by mechanical cleaning or etching. Dense surface oxides are removed by grinding. After cleaning, the parts should be collected as soon as possible using clean gloves to prevent subsequent contamination.

Choice of filler

The correct choice of brazed filler for the intended application depends on a number of factors, including the design of the components, the chemical composition of the tin and the service environment. The exact content of alloys in the brazed filler determines the range of melting temperatures. Its value indicates the possibility of filling the potential, and a brazed filler with a large melting range is usually more able to fill a larger gap.

The filler metals are usually applied in the form of a powder mixed with a liquid binder. The metal solder powder can also be mixed with a water-based gel-based slurry agent to produce a paste. Fillers are also available in the form of foil and tape.

The products are offered at affordable prices from the manufacturer. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.

Isolation from oxygen of air

Any splitting of tin over the surface of a tin without a joint can seriously degrade the resistance to the environment, especially if soldering is performed at temperatures above the melting point of the solder metal.

The filler metals containing low-temperature components, such as zinc and tin, evaporate until the soldering temperature is reached, therefore, soldering of tin is rarely used. Most of the soldering with fillers based on tin should be carried out in an argon atmosphere.

Adaptations

Since most soldered tin alloys are melted by a capillary path, the correct installation of the parts to be soldered is extremely important.

To facilitate an even flow of molten weld metal through the joint area, it is necessary to maintain a clearance of the order of 0.025… 0.125 mm. Excessive external stresses or stresses imposed on the solder joint during soldering can cause cracking.
