GOST 8734−75 provides the following dimensional groups of pipes depending on the thickness of their walls:

Thick-walled. They have a ratio of the outer diameter to the wall thickness of 6… 12,5;

Pipe products having a diameter of not more than 20 mm can be classified into two categories according to the absolute value of the wall thickness of the pipe. Products having a wall thickness of less than 1.5 mm are classified as thin-walled. Pipes with a wall thickness of less than 0.5 mm are considered particularly thin-walled.

Technical requirements

Pipes are manufactured with subsequent heat treatment. It is allowed to produce products without heat treatment, but in this case the ratio of the wall thickness to the outer diameter should be more than 50 or the thermal treatment is excluded at the request of the customer. Cutting ends should be made at a right angle. For thin-walled and extra-thin-walled pipes, end faces should be provided at the ends.

Quality requirements

On the surface of pipes there should be no cracks, sunsets and other defects. Small necks, scales and other irregularities that do not interfere with inspection are allowed. Trace marks should not display pipe dimensions beyond the limit values. At the request of the customer, the surface of the pipes can be cleaned of scale.
