Welding of titanium

Welding of titanium

Are you interested in welding titanium and titanium alloys from the supplier company AvecGlob? Here you will find interesting information on this topic /

General characteristics of welded titanium compounds

Titanium and its alloys provide excellent corrosion resistance to acids, chlorides and salts; a wide range of operating temperatures and the highest ratio of strength to weight in comparison with any metal. Therefore, the use of welded titanium structures significantly expands the scope of their use. For example, it is welded products that are used in maritime, chemical engineering, oil and gas producing installations, etc.

The basic processes of welding of titanium

The following welding technologies are used for joining titanium and its alloys:

Gas tungsten arc welding;

Gas arc welding with a metal electrode;

Plasma arc welding;

Electron-beam welding;

Laser welding;

Welding by friction;

Resistance welding.

When welding titanium and its alloys, fluxes can not be used, because their use can cause brittleness and reduce corrosion resistance in the weld zone. Exceptions are fluxes based on metal fluorides, but their use causes a sharp increase in the cost of welding. Therefore, processes such as electroslag welding or arc welding with a powder arc for titanium have very limited application.

Supplier — AvekGlob company — offers at a reasonable price from the manufacturer various welded structures made of titanium alloys. The supplier guarantees the timely delivery of products to any address specified by the consumer.

Gas welding of titanium

Gas tungsten arc welding is the most widely used method of joining parts made of titanium alloys, except for thick plates. Surface joints can be welded without the use of fluxes in metal substrates up to 2.5 mm thick. For thicker base metals, the joint must be corrugated, and a metal filler is required. The heated weld metal in the welding zone must be shielded from the atmosphere to prevent contamination with oxygen, nitrogen and carbon (this will worsen the ductility of the metal in the weld zone).

Plasma arc welding

The process is more productive than the previous one, and can also be implemented with respect to more massive products. This is explained by a decrease in the number of necessary passes.

Laser-beam and electron-beam welding

Titanium welding is used in a limited way, since they are very energy intensive. The thickness of the weld metal should not exceed 10… 12 mm.

Contact types of welding (friction and resistance)

Used when connecting titanium pipes, pipes or rods, where the purity of the connection can be achieved without screening.

Resistance welding is used to join a sheet metal or alloy using spot welds. This process is also used for welding titanium sheet with other metals.

Supplier — AvekGlob Company — offers to purchase various welded constructions made of titanium and titanium alloys. Products can be bought at a price formed on the basis of European and world standards of production. Implementation is possible in bulk and retail, for regular customers, a flexible system of discounts operates.
